Rub rail repair

I have just had two sections of the stainless rail repaired. The rail was bent down an out of alignment by a jetty's wharf pole. The fix was to screw the rubbing strip into the deck of a wooden wharf in order to realign it foot by foot. Many of the original screw holes in the fibreglass had to be drilled out and filled in then drilled again for the new screws. Perfect result.

On getting the sheared screws out of the fiberglass, take a look from the inside. These are sheet metal screws that usually extend some from the interior fiberglass. A small vice grip on the end of the screw tip may allow you to back them out a turn or two so you get something on it from the outside to finish the job.
