  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' EXTENDED DECKHOUSE (1983 - 1988)
I just had a new auto pilot installed and have a box of spare Robertson AP 100 parts. Display, J100 junction box and a rudder indicator (not shown) and a whole mess of wires. Also some manuals. Free with shipping cost to anyone interested in keeping your old unit going.

These are spares I've had a box in my basement so I am not sure if they work. I'll try to remember to ask the electronics place to harvest the spares that came off my boat and if they are available (?) I'll get those together too. They should have been working, as I believe what went out on mine was the pump.

Which new one did you get? Just curious.

Garmin GPSMap 7612 for the plotter, and Garmin GHP Reactor Hydraulic Corepack with SmartPump for the auto pilot. We did the sea trial this morning and it was amazing. Hauled yesterday for the transducer. Also got a new VHF on the bridge because mine had crapped out. It was time for new everything.

Good choices. The reactor is pretty cool and seatrial and programming have become much easier. It's probably smarter than we are.

Did you set up garmin helm yet?

I'm also interested. Pm me if still available. Thank you

The equipment is impressive and sea trial setup was easy- the installer was great and he made it look easy at any rate. The turns the boat made seemed more efficient than I can do by hand. I can't wait to run the boat this weekend.

I do have Garmin Helm set up with a tablet that I purchased for this application only as I don't normally use a tablet for anything else. I think it's an 8" Samsung if I recall correctly. I'm just getting started with it, but so far so good. I got it for use on the fly bridge, to avoid purchasing another display. I plan to mount it with clear heavy duty velcro (and of course take it down when not in use).

I'm waiting to hear from Gary as to whether he would like the old parts. I can certainly appreciate collecting these hen's teeth.

I sent you a PM. The junction box on mine is a J300, so this one won't work. I'll have to keep looking.
Thanks anyway.
Gary

Thanks Gary-

Parts still available if anyone would like them. Otherwise they are headed for the dumpster.

Interesting that you have the tablet for the bridge. I did an installation where it was all on the bridge but we talked him into an 8 inch screen below for bad weather running.

What kind of tablet or screen did you use on the fly bridge install?

With regard to where the GPS display goes, I guess it depends on where you do most of your running and consider your "primary" station. I wanted that to be the lower station. For me, I do a lot of short runs on the Chesapeake and many of those can be solo. For that I find comfort in being close to the ER. And since my fly bridge canvas is so large, I only feel like it's "worth it" to take it off for a longer run when I'm going to be up there for awhile to enjoy it.

I did a trial with the tablet this weekend and it worked ok, I'm really still learning the systems. At one point the tablet did lose communication with the GPS display and I had to shut it down and power it back up. Am hoping that will be an isolated incident.

I mounted the tablet centered on the helm with the clear heavy duty velcro and that worked out nicely.
