  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Anyone ever raise the motor's (671s) in a 43 Hatteras DCMY to replace the motor mounts? If so, would be interested in the method and equipment used (gantry designs, jigs, rigging, etc.).

Undo and support the shaft coupler, bottle jack under the first mount and replace that mount. Then the next, next, next. Let the engine sit on all mounts evenly over night.
Align the engine next morning.

Take a look at "Isoflex" mounts. The studs are removable making the mounts easier to "cheat" in with minimal lifting. I replaced mine last year (37C 6-71N)

Will do. Thanks for the recommendation.

You can use a short a-frame and a come-along to raise the gear end and place a block between the rear housing and the hull. You can raise the front with the same a-frame and put a block under the old mount then remove the opposite motor mount. What type of mounts do you have?

I think they are Ace mounts. Original equipment. Have you done this before with Capital Gear and DD671Ti inside a 43 DC? I do not believe the salon floor will support the weight. Have read where engine + gear is 3800 pounds. Do not believe blocking between the hull and engine is such a good idea. Can not imagine the hull supporting that load. The only place I can find that is capable of bearing the load is the very stringers the motors are sitting on. I believe I may be able to go across the two inside stringers and rest a support between the bracket that holds the mount then use a farm jack to raise the engine bracket enough to remove the old mount and replace with a new one. I can not imagine putting the load on the salon floor or the hull. Would be interested in knowing if this was ever done in a 43 DC or how Hatteras recommended changing out these mounts. When I removed my Cummins 903's I removed my window glass and put a lifting beam through the windows and held it up at the ends with the travel lift and chain fall on the beam. This worked great. When I rolled it out the door I had steel beams across the two inside stringers with crib walls from there to the salon floor. My engines with capital gears weigh 3500 lb.

In my opinion, you dont have to overthink the mount replacement. The engines dont need to be lifted. Just supported in place. A bottle jack with wood to spread the load will work. Remove and replace mounts one at a time.
