  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I am in the Bradenton area and am looking for ideas of where I can rent an A-Frame to hold the engine while I remove the transmission. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I've seen guys use air bags and do it from underneath. I put some wood cribbing in the bilge and used a portapower when I did mine.

Classic, 53, MY or convertible?

I used a bottle jack and some wood blocks when I had my trans out.

The 2 pics show how the engine in a 53MY was blocked after it was raised to remove the transmission. The engine was raised using 2 trailer tongue jacks resting on the stringers and bolted to a 5" piece of channel iron that was attached to the back of the transmission at the top bolts on the face of the bearing cover plate. Also the transmission can be removed through the fwd stateroom hatch. PM if interested in more info on how it was done.
