Interesting thread. I have seen many a tire kicker turn into a real live buyer. And if they do not buy , they likely know someone who may. " Treat em right, because if you don't someone else will".

Yep, you never know. I have met many people worth hundreds of millions who dress like everyone else.

Met one guy who wore an old rope for a belt....one of the wealthiest men in Canada, now passed onto his reward. I mistook him for a bum out of the park, glad I was polite to him, else I would have been fired from my job at that time!!!! Turned out he was a very friendly "salt of the earth" type, who had contempt for those who put on airs.

if I was rude it means I determined you were not making a purchase but wasting my time, I don't appologize for that, I smoke em out and they are use to being able to bullshit the average broker into wasting time,

so now tell me Mr. Wana be jack ass.. does that sound like someone with something to hide...

Nope, I'd say that pretty clearly articulates your business practice.

Kinda reminds me of a time an upholsterer boarded the boat, not at our request but because she heard we were looking to have a bit of work done, and told me not to waste her time and effort providing us with fabric samples and measuring for an estimate if we were'nt going to deal with her exclusively... needless to say our conversation was short...

We have read a lot here and on THC about Redline's relations with buyers, does anyone have any info on how the Seller's feel about him? Is he as "crusty" with them as with the "looky loos"?

I think that puts a different spin on things since he is using his own money and not working on comission. He has a right to handle his own investment any way he wants. It would be a different situation if he was selling my boat for me and I heard he was running off potential buyers with his attitude/manner, but this is not the case.

I would not believe anything he tells you. Take my word for it. Words can not describe this man.

I was chewed out by email because I "looked" at a boat he listed without his permission. Keep in mind, I didn't board or even touch the boat. He was P-O'ed beyond belief when I emailed him asking why the boat was pictured for sale with certain accessories which had been removed by the time I saw her. He has a very strong reputation as you can see by the responses of others. Drink a few beers before you call! I thought I saved the email but I couldn't find it. I vowed to never contact this fella again. Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde

Write the BBB and ket them know what an a hole he is. I wrote them and got a respnoce. He is a real jerk .

Friends:

Life is way too short to deal with an individual like this unless you are into self-punishment. The whole purpose of buying a boat is to enjoy the process from start to finish with your friends and family. Take a look at Mario's link showing his family enjoying his lovely 58YF. I think this shows best how we should all approach boating. There are too many good yards, brokers, and other yachting professionals out there. Stick with them.

Cheers

Spin,

You get an "Attaboy" for that. Very well put

Walt

Last week the boat was $179k FIRM. Expect a severe butt chewing if you even hint at not offering full ask.

We'll guess what? Looks like he'll now take $160k. BTW, looks like it will go to auction if it does not sell soon. So much for fair, FIRM pricing from Redline Marine.

Note the instruction that interested parties are not to call to ask questions. Copy/paste from the listing:

"PLEASE DO NOT CALL WITH QUESTIONS.
Wow is what you will say when you see this boat, it would cost more to make a boat look like this than the selling price, over two hundred thousand dollars were spent on her in the past 18 months to make her like this, take advantage of this down market and steal her for this price, you could sell her for more than you paid in two years!"

Yeah, right...can I get that in writing?

Just one more reason to stear clear of Redline. Sounds like he is abrasive, unreasonable, and confrontational.
