Look in Boats and Harbors and find a rebuilt one.

Interesting boat you are looking at there. Any photos? Weren't Daytonas wooden boats? If so, you'll have your work cut out for you.

as mentioned in this thread Acadia marine is who does the rebuilds for the majors. if you have them rebuild yours it will cost you between $3 and $5 thousand. That should be the flywheel, pump, and of course the gears. Price will vary depending on what's damaged internally. as for pulling the tranny. I usually see an a frame fabricated and then two people carry out the tranny. the flywheel assembly weighs almost as much as the tranny. the one thing I will say is that while an m20 it's a simple transmission. the tolerances are critical. so not just anybody should rebuild these. you will get warranty from Acadia so that's who will do mine if I have a failure.

Hey Jim - You are "mostly" right, but Daytona & Jack Hargrave had seven 50' SF hulls & decks produced by Halmatic in England in fiberglass. These were then fitted out by Daytona back in Florida.

This particular one was built in 1974 to go 100 miles offshore to fish, and stay there for 2 - 3 days. She carries 1000 gallons of fuel & 400 gallons of fresh water.
