  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Am hoping to remove and replace all the screws that attache the bridge to the upper deck. Many of the original screws have disolved away to nothing - shafts gone, heads pretty much falling off. What's the correct procedure for replacing / resealing these?

New stainless screws?
Rot Doctor into the core?
Epoxy Injected into the core?
Boat Life Injected and slathered on screws before insertion?

Ultimate intent is to make this portion water tight without pulling the whole damn bridge $$$$$.

Thanks!

Not sure if it was the best solution-but when I did mine I removed all of the screws and removed the broken ones with a screw extractor that you can buy from Jamestown distributors. I rolled the flybridge forward and back on PVC pipe so I could clean out the existing holes and filled with epoxy. I then repositioned the bridge about an inch from the repaired holes and drilled new holes. I also bedded the bridge in 5300 verses the original gasket. Hope this helps.

I did the Boss Lady bridge work by removing the old screws. I filled in those holes with epoxy.

I drilled new holes and also countersunk them so the screw head is below the surface. I used number 10 stainless. ( do not use those sorry brass square drive screws )

I then epoxied over the new screws giving a much more modern and clean look to the bridge.

I also dug out the old caulking and filled the seam/joint with west epoxy and 407.

Mighty good suggestions gents - hadn't thought of any of them.

Thanks!
