Yeah, I am just not sure about those contraptions. Ours is under the removable floor of the closet, but the vent itself sticks up through a hole in the removable floor. So far, no odors in the closet. One reason to use a vented loop is if you want to select the dip switch for "retaining water in the bowl". If you want a dry bowl, you don't need the loop unless the toilet is below the waterline. The "dry bowl" option also reduces the amount of liquid sent to the holding tank. My wife sniffs constantly and sometimes does detect an odor, but I don't think that has anything to do with our vented loop. As you know, the harder you sniff to find an odor, the harder it is to detect one.
