Yeah, I am just not sure about those contraptions. Ours is under the removable floor of the closet, but the vent itself sticks up through a hole in the removable floor. So far, no odors in the closet. One reason to use a vented loop is if you want to select the dip switch for "retaining water in the bowl". If you want a dry bowl, you don't need the loop unless the toilet is below the waterline. The "dry bowl" option also reduces the amount of liquid sent to the holding tank. My wife sniffs constantly and sometimes does detect an odor, but I don't think that has anything to do with our vented loop. As you know, the harder you sniff to find an odor, the harder it is to detect one.

As stated earlier, a vented loop should never smell as it only allows air in, not out. If you were concerned, however, you could mount the loop anywhere that you need it, then run a vent hose from the loop to a fitting on the side of the hull. This way, you would have no chance of smells coming off of the loop and into the boat.

I missed the important issue in your thread as to why you guys decided to change out the original Mansfield Vacu Flush ? Thank you.

My original head was a Groco. I was so noisy that you didn't want to flush it at night. It also could not handle heavy duty deposits. You had to push that stuff down. Bah!!! Our new Atlantes Freedom head solves all those problems and works great. I just don't tell my non-boating friends that I paid $1,000 for a toilet.

I missed the important issue in your thread as to why you guys decided to change out the original Mansfield Vacu Flush ? Thank you.

I wanted to change out my GalleyMaid heads for something that used less water and was quieter. I had owned Vacuflush in the past and looked into those first. Since they don't make 32v units anymore, I ruled them out and went with the Atlantes.

Now I will have to say that after 2 seasons with the Atlantes, I like them better than any other toilet we have owned including the GM, Groco and VF. It takes up less space than a VF and you don't have any guests that operate it wrong causing the vac pump to cycle on and off all night. It's simple and it works. I like that.

Mine Atlantes is just sitting there up here in New Haven waiting for launch. I'm planning having a great big clam pie at Pepe's in anticipation of the Christening.

Although the mini-flush and even the momentary flush are more than adequite in most cases, you may want to consider a full normal flush after that clam pie!!.
