53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Last fall I upgraded the original chartplotter on my 1973 53my to a Raymarine E95. I still have the original Furuno Marine Radar Display Model 1932 Type RDP-118. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to interface the older Furuno radar with the newer Raymarine products? When I was visiting with the tech people at West Marine in RI over Thanksgiving, they thought that there was an interface available.

Thank you for any feedback,

Nmea 2000 and 0183 may be compatible but will only share certain information. You will not get the radar on the gps screen or visa versa.

You can get speed and course Info and depth too if you interface them.

Thanks Scott,

I figured it would not be so easy.

I only installed the new Chartplotter on the bridge and have the original Furuno display in the pilothouse. It would have been nice to get the radar feed streaming to the bridge without having to make a significant additional investment.

No one ever said boating was easy or inexpensive.
