  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1983 - 1987)
I have a couple of vintage 3208's that i think could benefit from these oil purifiers. Has anybody got these things and if so how do you like them. They are made in Florida. I have 3 brand new still in the box T140.

I believe that I had what you are referring to on my 56. They are supposed to extend the service intervals for oil changes. I never relied on them to extend my oil change intervals. With that said, I never had any problems with the units. FWIW, my 56 was supposedly owned by Roger Penske and he was the one who put them on the boat. Perhaps he knows better.

Do you recall what the filters cost? I don't think they would hurt my ole smoking 3208's. I'm able to use the boat year round and put 120 hours a year on.

Did Penske ever ship an engine with with oil purifier(S) installed?

I would doubt it.

I really do not recall what the filters themselves cost. The number of between $100 and $150 for a case of four sounds about right. I have no idea what the housings cost. They were pretty heavy duty and had a heating element in the bottom and various drain tubes on the top.

I know he shipped a pair of 16-92s and a pair of 12V-149s without oil purifiers. Just regular spin-on oil filters on the 92s. The 149s have cartridge filters.
