Propellers 46C

Hi All, OK this is a very broad question but I need to start some where. I have a 1982 series II 46C HP with DD 8V92ti engines rated at 650 HP and the boat weighs 20 tones with low fuel and water. I believe the props on the boat now are 3 blade 28 x 27 pitch but are in dire need of tuning I am not sure where i can get that done where I live). I have a spare set of props 4 blade 28 x 26 pitch that I will need to put on while I find a place to have the others repaired. Can anyone with the same boat let me know what propellers they are running and what experience they have had. Thank you very much.

I have the same boat. I run 28X25.5 three blade cupped. runs 20+ kts @ 1800 and 29+ kts at 2300 to 2350.

I know your boat well. It belonged to a member of our club.

I am running 28x29 three blade. On my 46 HP. I have tried a 26x26 dyna-quad. not enough blade
area,propellers cavitated at 2100 rpm. Because of the horsepower in are boats and most of them have a 1.5 ratio transmission propeller sizing is critical. Most propeller sizing programs recommend a
26x27 but you need a 4 blade propeller with .8 dar blade area. Acme offers one and so does Veem.
There is a old thread from Nimrod who did a lot of propeller testing with his 46 HP.
What ever propeller you end up with the engines need to be able to hit 2300rpm under load.

Thank you gentlemen, I only have the two sets of prop so i will just have to see how it goes. will give results when I manage to find a place to haul out.
