  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' EXTENDED DECKHOUSE (1983 - 1988)
"PLEASE NO DREAMERS"

Seems being a dreamer would be a prerequisite.

That boat was sitting in front of my project Chris Craft in Sparrows Point in 2011. Later it was on e bay for a hundred plus dollars. Sad but another dreamer will get it and it will sink and that will be the end.

Sad indeed. Interior looked like it may be salvageable.

She is anchored in the South River just East of the Rt 2 bridge. You can see her from the bridge. I remember that boat from 30 years ago under a previous owner. She wasn't a nice boat then. Clearly she has not improved. With no engines and in that condition she has IMHO negative value.

They were grasping for positive things to say and the best they could do was "much sanding has been done" and "it's full of tools" What's the over/under before it goes under?

The anchor locker door looks nice.

Seriously, it is rather sad to look at, especially the baby playpen in the master. Hopefully they were just using it for storage vs having a young child living in the middle of that mess. If it were closer, I would go check it out and maybe salvage a few pieces for future use. I don't think removing a few pieces would hurt the value of the boat, and it would give the seller a few bucks.

A salvage yard idea. Let's see.

Haul and clean the boat. Block it and start pulling parts. Between the doors and hardware there's at least $500 in parts. Maybe props and shafts too. I bet you could get $2k in parts if you tried. Sounds like a great way to go broke.

If that is someone's dream what are their nightmares like?

Who said anything about salvaging the boat? I would just pull off a few things where she sits, assuming there's anything I would want.

BTW, you forgot to add in the cost of towing it to the lift as it's currently anchored. :)

Sanding always seems to be the worst part of any job. So, the hard part's already been done here. I don't understand why someone's not jumping on this.

Losing my mind. It's February. From the "nut farm" ;)

What Jack said. I can't imagine what their nightmares are like either.

The worst part is no engines. So you have to go out and BUY them for a boat that will never be worth much of anything. Sad.

When I said one time that 97% of the Hatteras hulls built were still floating, this isn't exactly what I meant...

Sanding is easy. Try structural repairs or burned-out spots from fire.
Engines, generator, ac, electrical systems all cost real money.

That old boat is like a junk tire. After it's stripped out and the valuable parts sold off your still underwater. It's a shame because that anchor locker door looks pretty good.

Owners leaving state! Lol = outstanding warrants?

sort of hard to imagine such a neglected boat HAS owners.

If it were set adrift it would eventually end up in the North Pacific Gyre .

Owners that need to Leave town. I wonder why?

Did I see the remains of a meth lab in the galley?

I think if I owned the same boat, I would buy this one just for spare parts.

That was the first thing that jumped to my mind. I've redone a couple of these. They take forever to prep for paint.

Art, I don't think you want to take up all that room just to have spares for a similar boat. It would make more sense to buy it and take off the things that would be valuable and recycle the rest of it. I am surprised it is still floating.
