Just recently a guy at WM said that muratic acid will disolve the residual zinc remains that are found clinging inside "pencil zinc" brass plugs (the inside and outside threaded type).
Has anybody done this - without harm to the brass - and if so would you dilute the acid?
(I'd prefer to do this and continue to use the plugs from my fine and growing collection of same).
For that matter what can you soak in muratic acid to get it cleaned?
