Don’t trust the yard or boat yard mechanics. If you can’t do it yourself leave it alone until you get it home. If it ran for the sea trial it will get you back to CT. If you have any problems at all guaranteed it will be a mechanic Screw up. We live in a world full of idiots what’s worse they’re all distracted by their phones.

Hello Bob!

Glad to hear your getting close to bringing her home!

Only thing I can think to add is to make sure you have some spare big fuses for the shore power connector, on board. Also, I found on my 45C that it has a bunch of ANL type fuses inside the electrical panels, in the ER. Might be a good idea to bring some of those along as well.

Have a great trip!

Good comments.

At least thoroughly go over any yard work, Maybe a shakedown lap around the area, return, check all out, then deploy.

In April 2015 I purchased a Hatteras 45C with 2007 QSM11. The engines had just over 1,100 hours
In June same year we transferred the boat from New Orleans to Rep. of Panama, a 1,600Nm trip.
The only problem during the trip was the loss of steering the first day in the Gulf of Mexico due to a broken Cotter pin at the steering piston.
Now with 2,600 hours on the engines, I am very satisfied with the engines and their reliability, they have never failed to start. The only maintenance so far apart from filters, oil and zinc, yearly acid flush of the cooling system, have been one change of impellers in 2016 not because it was needed but I wanted a start with new ones, then I check them every year when I take them out for the acid flush of the cooling system, I check the belt every 250 hours and tighten if necessary. I recently had to change the engine mounts on the port engine due to vibrations. No oil under, the pads are kept clean. Two years ago, I had the get the Smartcraft LCD screens changed as the started to get blurry.
That’s it with the engines so far.
As somebody mentioned keep the boat slightly underpropped and do not abuse the engines and they will last “forever”, there are several threads at Boatdiesel about what to watch out for. Exhaust manifold crack seems to be frequent due to over propping.
As it comes to the rest of the boat, I have not had any problem for 5 years that would interrupt a journey.

Well, that's certainly encouraging. She's definitely not over propped. Loads are fine, and at 2100rpm she's only at 19.2gph per engine.
