Washing the outside cable jacket is great but does anyone maintain the male connections or inside the female end? I spray the inside of female end to overflowing multiple times a year with WD-40, which stands for Water Dispersant formula 40. Occasionally file the male connections to bright. Do this to the ships male shore power connectors too. I haven’t suffered an overheated/burnt connection in years. Tight screw collars and no water/salt inside will pay dividends on cord/receptacle life. If you come across an old cord with a metal screw ring on it, save that ring. The plastic rings are engineered obsolescence.
