Be careful with the cheap tools.

Too many break under stress and send users to the hospital for stitches.

Craftsman USA made would be a minimum quality tool for any real torque. And impact sockets for impact guns. Dont take chances.

I wouldn't consider Craftsman as quality any longer due to Lowes taking over the brand as their "economy" grade tools. I refrain from using an impact to minimize chance of shearing off old bolts, and my primary socket set is DeWalt. However, for the issue with the starter I was unable to obtain a DeWalt 12-point set, but the 2 I listed in my post worked without any issues with hand power.

Lowes??
Just swapped out a pile of Craftman ratchets at Ace.

I believe Craftsman was sold to the same company that owns Stanley. So it's not tied to a particular store.

Stanley you say??
About the same stuff these days. Craftsman may have a little edge.
This may just be a merge that helps the home company (Stanley) with better resources.

Is JD5652 running yet? Issues? Lessons? More pictures??Comments???
It's an inquiring mind thing.

Rwaldrop13 may be running soon also.

I'm learning a lot here. Looking forward to fix details.

Capt Ralph-

Miss Maggie completed an 8-day trip from Mystic, CT to Chesapeake, VA back in early November. No issues whatsoever with the oil leak on the port engine. I installed a new starter. However, the REAL FIX was clocking the starter from the 6 o'clock position to about the 10 o'clock position.

Happy Holidays to ALL!

Very interesting discussion on the transmission oil leak issue. Just moved my boat from Tampa to Fort Myers with considerable enroute transmission oil loss into the drip pan. So is the consensus then that the transmission oil is finding its way out through the adapter and starter mount area? My starter solenoid (port engine btw) is mounted at 10 o'clock looking forward. And although the starter was damp with some oil residue, it was not dripping. Could it be hydraulic pump seals passing oil into the adapter and out the starter flange?
My M20 manual seems to be MIA and most of the online download offers look a little suspicious. Anyone know a safe site to download another one?

Could be as simple as old seal on filter housing. I once had this happen to me. It was either an old seal stuck up in the filter housing or that filter was being changed using existing seal and not a new one. Can't remember. What a mess that was.

Point is start with the basics first and look where it is coming from under a load.
