So during downtime while engine is being overhauled I wanted to tackle a few small projects that have bothered me for a while. One of them was the footrest on my Pompanette p2000 helm chairs. The plastic (yes plastic) they are made of had become brittle and started to fall apart. The plain plywood core had started to deteriorate as well.
Replacement from Pompanette was $410/ea and probably the same plastic/plywood construction as the old ones. So..... we made a mold and built our own out of fiberglass with a 3/4" coosa core.
Don't have any pics of it on the boat yet, but here is one pic from the shop. Looks identical to the old but now is a durable long-lasting composite no-wood part which has a non-skid coating (to match my bridge floor, awlgrip in hatteras white.
So, we now have the mold for these so if anyone else is interested price would be $300ish in primer grey, $350ish painted with hatteras white non-skid (awlgrip griptex).
