Thanks Rob, didn't know something like that existed, just ordered one of both sizes that appear available. Maybe even if this won't push it out I can at least turn an air conditioner back on!
(Not sure a garden hose is enough flow, kinda doubt it LOL)

Will be bringing my pipe wrenches back to the boat tomorrow. ugh.

Bob I ran hoses and located my strainers on the opposite side of the generator room from the thru-hulls for the intakes. This meant I had a long sweep from the strainer to the intake. I made a hose tool with a barb fitting I could mate with the hose from the thru-hull and attach to a dock-water spigot that was in my generator room, so I could reverse-flush at dock pressure - Which was strong enough that standing on my anchor pulpit I could spray the back of the flying bridge. I never used heater hose- I bought the PVC sanitation-grade hose because it doesn't give marine growth a place to grab on the inside. This was a recommendation from a vendor in the marina, it cost a little more up front but a lot easier to work with and much more flexible.

Every time I clean my strainers out, which is often here in Nashville, I have to loosen that allen head screw at the top of the pump to bleed the air out of one of them. For some reason, the other one doesn’t need to be bled, but it is slightly lower in the bilge. Four years in Racine and Sturgeon Bay I never had to clean my strainers once, although I did it at the end of the year simply on principal. Here in Nashville since July 1st I’m on my third cleaning and my first time flushing each compressor with garden hose pressure. I was amazed at how much junk came out the discharge. I’m also trying chlorine tabs in my Grocos. I don’t think it will help in your case Bob because yours is at the source but maybe downstream??

Thank you, I like the idea of having it rigged to flush out the compressors too.

Thank you, I will check out that hose. I have seen that (I think the same hose) blow out under pressure though too. But I'm guessing it would be just fine for occasional flushing. Someone used sanitation hose on a 110V water pump on here and it blew out in two places filling the bilge with all the water in the water tank! Yikes.

I've always thought it a potential hazard for non valved through hulls to be partly submerged. Time to throw some stuff overboard. Likely only the bilge pump hoses have riser loops but if any through hull starts leaking...

I agree. Those should not be under water.

Is this what they mean by eel grass lol ?

I found this guy living in my A/C strainer a few weeks ago . He seemed not to mind but I returned him to the bay so he'd have a story to tell his friends. Actually some kind of Gar I think.
