I just wanted to see what people will be doing for the long holiday weekend.

Personally, I'll be traveling up the Navesink River off of Sandy Hook Bay in NJ for the fireworks in Red Bank. It's been a family tradition to anchor out overnight and wake up the next morning with only a few boats remaining from the 1000's that were there from the night before. Nothing like it, sitting out on the hook, rafted up to a few boats and having breakfast with no steadfast departure time.

It's much better than trying to follow the channel with 1000 other boats in the dark. Every once in a while, you'll see navigation lights that were mounted on the wrong sides and some people like to blind the other boats with their zillion candle power spotlights.

oh yeah... after July 4th and dec 31st, blinding others with spotlights seems to be a favorite...

going to spend the week end on the hook in biscayne ntl park and will come back to anchor off downtown for the fireworks on monday eve...

Larry, I'll be up in the Navisink along with you and the other thousands of crazies who will all be leaving at once. Unfortunatly I will have to leave as my son is bring his girlfriends mother (maybe future mother in law) along with a few guests who have to get back. I'll stay on the hook while the crazies leave and take a slow ride back to the slip later on. Probably going to bring the inflatable and if so will come over to introduce myself. Have fun.

Skip,
Looking forward to seeing you. We should be anchored by around 5:00 PM at the western edge of Blossom Cove. Pay attention to the depths, because high tide is around 9:00 PM Sunday in Red Bank, so don't go to shallow otherwise you're going to have a few extra guests overnight.

I'll be on the hook off downtown Miami in front of Bayside on the 4th. good place to see the fireworks, the fireworks barge is front and center from us. It gets packed so you must get there early and pick a spot.

I might anchor further out, just east of the shoal off bayside. there is a unmarked channel from rickenbacker marina up to the port.

not as close as bayside but more room. altthough the fireworks will be around high tide on the 4th so that will leave more room off bayside :-)

actually Pascal, I think the fireworks barge is closer to you! perfect view. ;)

Will be leaving for Hutchinson Island Marina at the Marriott Hotel. leaving out of Boca Raton can't wait for the trip. Hope all have a save trip if anyone else is up that way we are the Gina Marie 45C. Have a great weekend Tom.

Damn, sounds like a big plan in Miami! We'll be heading from Beaufort out to Ocracoke Island for the weekend and the fourth, then on up the Pamlico Sound to Manteo and then on to the Chesapeake for a little 11 day vacation. Very ready to ride!
Happy Fourth to all...
Tom

July 3, we are leaving Cincinnati, OH and will spend the fourth travelling down the Ohio River, on our way through the Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway to eventually end up in Fort Myers, FL. We plan to call that home till I retire and we start travelling. Happy Fourth to All!!!

Just planning on 5 days out on Block Island, RI with about 1,000 of my closest friends!

Can't wait!!

More like 2000! Mooring, hook, or at the marina? I will give them credit for being able to sardine an incredible number of boats into the marina. Of course, if you decide you need to leave earlier than planned, you are SOL. We decided that the next time we go to Block it will be on a mooring or hook.

We had a great time there though - took bicycles which were perfect for getting around. Hope you have a great time!

You guys are lucky...I am working the whole bloody weekend and if I see my boat it will be to go there and relax with a drink after spending the day in the ER. I hope, though, that you all have a good time. And, if anyone from this forum is going to be up near Annapolis, well, I always have time to look at another Hatteras.

I will be going to pick up our Boat in Panama City on friday and running it back here to its new home. Yall have a great weekend, and I envy the fact yall are gettin to relax.

Well I too will be in Block with Capt K and the other 2000 boats. Then leaving B.I on the 5th for a cruise too Province Town, Plymouth, Cutty Hunk and back to 3 Mile on the 15th with another 1000 boats for the fireworks. Total 16 nights on the boat and hope the Admiral doesn't jump ship.

Norm, your going to go right by me at Pickwick on the Tenn-Tom. I sent you an e-mail too. Will Shelton

Home in Sag Harbor, doing cleanup on the new aquisition (series 1- 45C) ... maybe an overnight in West Neck Harbor, Shelter Island, N.Y
Can catch the Sag Harbor YC fireworks right from the front deck.
Three mile harbor fireworks in a few weeks (there for the weekend).

We'll be in Champlin's (ouch) but Joe Jr takes pretty good care of us and usually docks us where it's almost impossible for him to raft to us.

Enjoy, all!!

I'll be off to Bimini, Bahamas for the entire 4th. Plan to clear customs then spend some time anchored off great Isaac, in the middle of nowhere with a rod in my hand and pull on Yellowtail snappers and do some deep dropping with my electric reel and see if any of those 130lb. groupers are home.
