Hatteras Model
64' MY - Series I (1974 - 1981)
Good afternoon all
One of my pilothouse doors is bowed inwards. It hits the door frame when
Opening ans i have to push it out when closing from the inside.
Can this be repaired or should i plane the door frame?
I would love to replace the doors, but i cant find them anywhere.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Pull the door off and look at the rollers. That area will deteriorate and they could be out of alignments and not secured well. I had to epoxy and redrill for mine.

If it truly is bowed, you could build a new teak door.

Check for dry rot in the lower track. It will sag and the door will not be true. If the rollers are broken the door will slide off its lower track.

Are all of Hatteras pilothouse doors teak? Mine are deteriorated and i did epoxy themAnd replaced the sheaves.

All are teak until the late 80's when the larger boats were aluminum.
