  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
Looking for ideas to spruce up the companion way between the engine rooms on a 58yf. Anyone have any pics of what you’ve done?

This is not for everyone, and I probably wouldn't have done this if it wasn't her passion. But, happy wife....... And, they are the real thing. Off the Polynesian Resort during their last re-model. And they are heavy as $%^. (Some sort of resin concoction) Anywho I have them on a steel corner profile bolted through to the engine room and finding a place where they looked right and I wasn't going to drill into something on other side of the wall was a serious challenge. Under the rug is stick on vinyl 70's Taiwan yacht parquet look alike. Some high end flooring to go in as part of another project TBD.

Thought I was going to get a Hatt with that cave a ways back.
I was going to paint trees on the walls with some ferns branching from the wall into the walk way, light blue on the ceiling and have grass like carpet on the sole.
With lights to go, would be like walking a path thru a tropical jungle.

Then I got married,, again..
The third time has been the charm..
We got the Bertram then,,

Jungle wallpaper above the chair rail height molding. I did a fancy one in the dining room of my house and it looks great....and was easy and pretty cheap.

Or stick with the sea:

The key is to get a good wallpaper with a little stretch to it. Then, you can pull the seams together perfectly.

I think you got it..
For wall paper, you have to strip that Hatt junk off of the panels and fair/seal.
I liked your paper examples. Would probably hold up better than my idea.

Love the signs, reminds me of our trip to Hawaii.

My 64' Burger listing has the beach mural - it's in the Owner's SR. Pretty cool.

I would think twice before spending a ton of money on high end flooring in that hallway. I know from experience that if you ever have a bilge pump take a crap or something happens, that hallway is the area of the boat that always floods into the interior. The rest of the boat stays dry. Not sure why that is, but it is.

To each their own, but I don’t think I would want anything on the walls that make a narrow passageway more narrow, especially if you’re trying to walk through there in rough seas.

This is one of those areas where wallpaper would be appropriate if you feel the need to brighten the area.

As purchased, simple.

Coincidentally today I installed new weather-stripping on the doors and hatches to reduce the sound levels, worked pretty well.

I suspect you don’t use the boat much. Those door hooks without keepers would all have wear arcs underneath if you did.

I've got to re-paper or something in that hallway so keep the pics coming. I'd love to get some ideas.

my wallpaper was crap when i bought my boat, she was also repowered so i didnt need the access doors so i screwed them shut, filled the gap around the edges and used white matte formica on the walls. this cleans up easily if you make any prints on it while doing engine work
