Here are a few photos of a wrecked 52C that I took while passing through Bimini in 2005. Apparently the captain tried to take the boat in between some of the rocky shoals that lay off the coast of North Bimini, specifically the rocks just offshore of what used to be the Rockwell mansion and what is now Bimini Bay.

It sat scratching up against the rocks for a few days until a barge came over from Ft. Lauderdale to do a recovery.

This was some time ago (2005), and I thought it would be interesting to share.

That's a shame! Poor boat really took a beating.

Wow that's a lot of damage well above the water line. Looks like they ran into something. How could running over a shoal do that much damage high up in the hull?

Because after he got stuck on the rock shoal, the boat sat on the shoal, pounding in the waves for a few days. After that kind of abuse I'm surprised it's still in one piece.

It was a Hatteras, after all. Tough boat. Poor old thing, a shame all around.

Gawdawful shame. What a waste of a good boat.

You have to be nuts to cut thru there with an inboard boat... I be been thru many times with a tender and you have many heads with less than 4'

Yea... You DO have to be nuts to go through there!!!

Yes I know these rocks, there is a nice tunnel under one them near the south side, about 8' wide and 15 or 20' long, great snorkeling spot
