Hello all,

I am hoping someone can point me in a good direction on a parts search. I am looking for a set of the cast valve covers for a 12v71 Detriot. Am told the 671 valve covers are the same. I have the old style stamped steel covers with all the oil leaks that go with them. The local Detroit dealer wants $700 each for new covers and I need 4. I have to believe that there is somewhere out there with junked engines that sells parts. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try any of the construction equipment dealers? There are many that specialize in parting out old machines. Take a look at www.rockanddirt.com
Then go to the parts look-up page. You can search by DD or if you have the part #, try that.

I will check. I think I have some. The 671 covers usually do ont have the breather in them.

Let me know if you have them and want to let them go. What I have now has no breather so that shouldn't matter.

Pick up a Boats and Harbors. They have a lot of people selling all kinds of Detriot engines and parts. I used to find parts for a 1967 453 in that publication. Buzz
