Today after I cleaned up Blue Note (who is quite unlikely at this point to get any paint at all this season, I appear to be totally screwed on this now) I decided to go out for a boat ride. this was short- down to Thomas Point Light and back. Boat ran fine etc. But when I got back I noticed that the bowl of the head was about /12 full. I don't keep it that way, and it doesn't fill up at the dock. And (because I'd seen this earlier in the day) I made sure it was empty when I started out for the short trip I took.

The head is plumbed to the usual underwater intake- it is a mushroom strainer which is NOT a scoop, I'm pretty certain. This has never happened in the past.

So- what part or valve is wearing out that water can get past the flush pump and build up in the bowl? I don't mind overhauling the head- I would just like to know (if anyone knows) where I should look for what's wrong here. Other than this odd behavior, the head seems to be working fine.

Sounds like a joker valve has lost it's tight lips...remember..loose lips sink ships !!!!

I think you're right. I spent some time with the diagrams of it. I am going to shut the two sea valves off and change that out and see if it cures it. I would really like a new Tecma head, but I don't want to spend the thousand bucks to get one. Plus this one isn't that old, it should have a few years left in it.
