Can you paint over the rough surface walls found in the head on a 1985 Hatteras 36 ft.
Wife says she can't get it cleaned and wants to paint it. I said I would ask. Thanks

You could probably use any interior latex with a mildewcide in it. I would think, anyway. People have used it to paint the headliners and it turned out fine.

If the "rough surface" you are talking about is the wall covering type of material I have that was use in the Hatteras' of that vintage then, yes it can be successfully painted. I just used a latex interior paint. Works just fine.

I’m in the paint business and yes you can. Highly recommended one of the new latex adhesive primers first. Clean and prep first, prime the finish with s latex satin, smi gloss interior latex. If you have mold wipe it down with 50/50 bleach and water mix 3 times. Once is never enough. If you don’t kill the mold you have just given it something to grow on with the new paint. The prep is 95% of the job. Don’t rush it.

Thanks for everything. She's tickled. I'll let you know the results.
