My fwd Onan genset ran for two hours the other day and shut down. It appeared to be a fuel issue so I rebuilt the Racor....which had about 3/4 of a inch of crud in the bottom of it. It restarted and appeared to run fine for a few min. and then shut down again. The light on the switch is blinking seven times which indicates a water supply issue but I see plenty of water coming out when it is running!! Impeller was changed four months ago and heat exchangers cleaned at the same time. Advice??

How does it sense water?

Could be a fresh water (coolant) pump issue. But first, have you tried using an IR gun to check temps at the sensor? Does the coolant have an outboard expansion tank, if so how does the coolant look? Have you checked the coolant level directly (taken the "radiator" cap off and looked)

Water press switch may have crud in it.

Yes in fact it was the pressure sensor that was the problem! New one is in and genset running great once again!
Thanks to all who responded.

Another satisfied customer........
