Good point.

And the diving in the great lakes is supposedly quite nice - but you DO need to dive dry (I would have never considered this a few years ago - now, drysuit diving is actually, for me, more enjoyable most of the time.)

Ah well - I've left and I doubt I will be back.... unless its doing the Great Circle in a LRC or a very custom hybrid YF!

Well, one of the most desirable boats around here is anything that says in the description "recently moved from Great Lakes, always in FW, heated winter storage". Every boat that I've ever seen that came from up there was in terrific shape- clean and shiny and no corrosion. There's something to be said for a boat's long life up there. And I'll bet you don't have to do a lot of blister jobs, do you....

I haul out in November, and launch in late March or early April, depending on where in the yard they put me. Last out, first in, is the rule. Although this year that may be different in location and timing if I get my engine deal together.....(working hard at that).

Jim,
Yep - pretty much the same schedule I had when I lived on Long Island (16 months ago). It has been quite an adjustment here though with being out by Oct-15 and back in Apr-15. Boating both in the big water and here on the Great Lakes I must say that cruising in MI has had some of the most breath taking views, sunrise and sunsets I've seen. There are some things I miss not being on the ocean but so far, I've really come to enjoy it here.

And not having to spend 1 hour rinsing the boat off every time I'm done for the day has been GREAT!
