I'd send it to Apple and demand a replacement!
A quick war story somewhat related...inserted into a hot LZ one day in 1968. After we were down and consolidated, I noticed that my Seiko watch had actually taken a piece of shrapnel into the face, destroying the watch and luckily leaving my wrist untouched.
My comment was, "Damn, this thing says 'shockproof,' I guess it isn't!" We were laughing about that when one of my squad leaders suggested I ship it to Seiko with a note about being disappointed about it's "durability." So I packed it in an empty C-rat box and a few days later when a resupply chopper showed up, I gave it to one of the door gunners, asking him to figure out how to ship it to Seiko with my note in the box.
About 3 weeks later I got a small package on another resupply chopper - a new Seiko from the factory! I suspect Apple would not do the same thing!
FWIW, back then Seiko watches were not in the US. The only people that had them were US military in the far east since they were available in the PX. In fact, for a couple of years, if we saw a non-military person in the US with a Seiko watch we'd ask (humorously, of course) "Where the heck did you get that watch, were you in Vietnam?"
