  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Went out for a ride yesterday and had a lovely day. After shutting down noticed Starboard temp gauge still reading 180 with everything off. Turning switch on and off does not move the gauge.

I am going to restart this afternoon and check against the FB gauge. Also would like some pointers to trouble shoot before calling Sam's and getting a new one. Gauges and senders are Stewart Warner new from Sam's three years ago.

THANKS!

If you disconnect the sender wire at the gauge the gauge should zero out. If you jumper the sender terminal to ground it should peg the gauge. If this all works and you still have a reading that is incorrect it's the sender. Make sure the sender doesn't have Teflon tape or a lot of pipe thread gunk on it's threads as it needs to get a good ground on the engine. ......Pat

If your temperature gauge is manual ( w/0 a sender) the reading will keep showing for a while. If on the othe hand is electric the above recomendation is valid.
