  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
I have a Onan 7.5 KW Diesel power plant MDJE. It is mounted mid-ship with access to the main engine where the oil/fuel filters are etc. Starter would be against the bulkhead. I have an oil leak from the back side apparently. I cannot get to it without allot of effort. I have replaced all the oil/fuel lines and installed a new fuel pump. Had a slight leak at the pump. I put absorbent pads in the pan that the engine is mounted on to catch the oil. About 3 to 6 oz. in a 12 hr. period. I can run my hand under the engine to the back of the block and feel no bolts or parts that could leak. My manual does not display what is back there either or I cannot find it in the manual.

Ideas???

If memory serves me correctly, all that's back there is, starter, exhaust dump, heat exchanger and water hoses, seems odd, do you have a mirror you can deploy to look back there ?

There you are it's an airborne release of oil settling behind the genset..problem solved...

You know over the years I have found this site to be exceptionally helpful and most all of my issues were solved by another member sharing his experiences and wisdom. Generally, problem solved without the expense of a mechanic, but rather the kind gesture of a friend.

I want to thank the responses and the advice sent to me, however the other comments leaves me a bit frustrated.

Perhaps over the years I might have lost a bit of my sense of humor.
