OMG!!!! I cannot believe that we are going to let this happen to the United States of America. It seems the majority of this country has all but accepted that this guy is going to become President. Isn't there any way to get people to understand what this guy is all about and what he wants to do to this country? How is it accepted that someone with so much to hide and so much negative, questionable and unknown past history and influences can be the ruler of the most powerful nation in the world?

I am so freaking mad about this but simply do not know what to do other than vote. All we can hope for I guess is that many of the voters who claim to support Obama (because it's the PC thing to do and is "cool" in some circles) will actually vote for McCain when they are in the booth behind the curtain and nobody can see them.

What will happen if Obama wins the popular vote but McCain wins the election because of more votes in the Electoral College?? There will be street riots in every major city.

Obama IS a United States Senator. He is not some guy found in a soup kitchen that some dark and mysterious uber-power is putting in position to ruin the country for some hidden agenda.

The fact that I may not agree with his plans (or McCains) doesn´t make him the beginning of the end of the USA as we know it. THAT has been happening for some time now and has nothing to do with who is in office. It has to do with the fact that things change.

For a long period in our history we would NEVER have elected an Irish Catholic as pres; we got over that. In a few years, this election will be looked/laughed at the same way and we´ll be freaked out over some candidate with a name like Ng Yung Fa or whatever. Then we´ll get over that too.

Mike, This guy is a very different issue for the USA than simply an Irish Catholic. This guy has too much unknown and the fact that he and the press are hiding much of his past should be a RED ALERT to us. We've always had issues with other parties' policies, that is nothing new. The fact that he has unquestionable ties to questionable characters would punt a regular Republican out of running, so why not the PC candidate of the Dem party? Why is he immune to the standards that we would hold any other Presidential candidate?

My biggest beef with him right now is the unknown. I don't like what little we do know about his past and his REAL thoughts and feelings about this nation (which have apparently changed ALOT in recent times). I have no issue whatsoever with his skin color or his religion (if we even know what his really is) but I do need to know what a man is all about including his associations and history before I can consider him for President of the USA. The fact that he's got something to hide is enough for me to believe that he should not be allowed to be the President.

I agree, Byron. I don't care for McCain and his policies, but Obama is just plain scary. His associations with the community organizing elites are a big concern. How many people really know that this CO stuff is just a code word for socialism. Ayers and his buddies would love to run this country through Obama. Just wait, soon the govt will be telling us how much debt we can have and how big our house should be.

At least we know that McCain has fought for this country and he will try to do what is right to keep us safe.

I too knew there was more to that quote than Byron listed, so it's good somebody cleared that one misconception up. How about the other 999... or is that 666?

There usually is more to those quotes we receive in emails like the ones I listed above. In this case, the short version of the quote seems spot on if you consider that whomever surmised the quote probably considers Arab and Pakistani Americans to be Muslims, which of course all are not. Many Americans have difficulty in distinguishing between Arabs, Muslims, Pakistani's, and many of the middle eastern cultures and religious beliefs.

I believe this is where much of the fear about Obama is stemming from. This is one of the primary reasons I believe that it is extremely important that we demand all questions about his past be answered before the election. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it is important enough to most Americans.

Many will vote for Obama because of his skin color alone. Here's a funny Howard Stern clip interviewing voters in Harlem. Hardly scientific, but probably indicative of who will be voting and why:

I heard a comment by a black minister who was voting for McCain. When asked what many in his church might think of him not voting for an African-American, he quoted ML King. He said, "I judge a man not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character". He went on to say that abortion was one of the many stances that swayed him to McCain over Obama. Interesting quote to use, however.

Warning from Pakistan

This morning, from a cave somewhere in Pakistan, Taliban Minister of Migration, Mohammed Omar, warned the United States that if military actions against Iraq continues, Taliban authorities intend to cut off America's supply of convenience store managers and possibly Motel 6 managers. And if this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by Dell and AOL customer service reps. Finally, if all else fails, they have threatened to send us NO MORE CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES... It's gonna get ugly..

They both have issues and while I may lean one way I understand why others lean the other. I am not sure that over the next 4 years either is going to be able to do much beyond the basics. We will pull out of Iraq, work our way out of the economic mess and work on an energy policy. There are some items like Supreme Court nominations that could be a major issue but for the most part the next President really has the majority of his path paved by current circumstances. He will look like a hero compared to W. and would have to really screw the pooch not to get reelected. Then he can do some major damage......
