Northstar 951/961 Sftware updates

Anybody make up a cable to do the NS 951/961 upgrade? I have had a lot of problems with mine and found that the 951/961 needs a new software package to operate properly ever since the "death star" sat #23 was deployed in Feb '09. NS will do the upgrade for 65 .00 flat rate . NS also has the cable available for something like 110.00 and then you need to hook a DB9 serial cable to a pc to upload the new SW . Just wondering how many other folks have done it or would do it . Looking at the pin out for the unit it looks like it would not be a big deal to make the cable . .......................Pat

I have a 951 with a bunch of chips. I won't go through all the hassle of updates so if anyone is interested, I'll part with it for a reasonable price. As I get older I think the new 12" screens make more sense for me, much easier on the eyes. Make me an offer.....

Pat - I have that cable from Northstar. I tried several times to be able to use it with a laptop to be able to swap waypoints but was never successful. I even worked with Bill at Northstar to try to use their software swap program but we could never get it to work right. I know this is a little different from what you are trying to do but it can get to be a real PITA. I had the merchant from whom I bought the Northstar do the upgrade for free. It may be worth a shot.
