For those not in North Carolina, a new law requires that documented vessels be registered with the state, and receive a state number and sticker. Documented vessels do not display the state numbers but are required to display the registration expiration sticker. The statute specifies that the sticker must be displayed on "the forward half of the starboard bow". Plain and simple english would point to the navy blue feature stripe on the starboard bow for the red sticker.
I do not want to put the red sticker in that position just for appearance reasons. So I have a couple of questions for the group. First, where does the bow start and end on both the horizontal and vertical plane of a boat. Second, for other North Carolina boats, where have you mounted the sticker?
BTW, my preference would be a starboard side window pane on the pilothouse of our 48 LRC. This would be just as visable as on the hull for any law enforcement checking for a sticker.
