  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
I don't know much about this brand of boat, I've heard a few good things and not any negatives so I guess that's a good thing. Either way this 50 ft design which they call a MY could easily have the cockpit altered to make it a sportfish/convertible and really make it a versital boat for the cruiser or fisherman in the family.

What a great use of interior space "Full Beam Master", shallow draft, safe walkaround decks, safe stairwell to the bridge, great power packages, and an easily accessible Galley from the aft deck. The master bedroom is the largest I've seen in a 50ft boat of this style while still providing two additional guest staterooms.

If Hatteras had a similar design, with their build quality and reputation here in the USA I don't think they could build them quick enough to keep up with the demand.

It may not appeal to the Hard Core Fish guy "they don't like change" because it's a bit different compared to conventional fish guy wisdom with the walk around decks and a few little things here and there. But to the true Convertible buyer that cruises also, it truely is a nice design. I think with a Hatteras flare of looks, quality and service people would like it.

Any thoughts? http://www.boattest.com/boats/boat_video.aspx?ID=3160

They also make that boat in a 50SF configuration. I've also heard pretty good things about them and the few I've seen look decent. That one looks too top heavy as they increased the size of the enclosed bridge. I think they are a bridge between a true SF and some of the lesser convertibles. Very similar approach as to what Riviera is doing with their boats. I don't think they are a Hatt alternative but more of a better Silverton.

I was once told at a boat show that Maritimo is the old owner or Riviera.

That explains a lot. They look similar to a Riviera. Also, I did see the Sportfish model but the layout is totally different and it doesn't have the walk around decks. Still interesting boats though.

True. Bill Barry-Cotter started Riviera and sold it in 2002 and started Maritimo in 2003. I came close to buying a used Maritimo 48 with QSM 11s and made the mistake of buying a SR instead.

Maritimo's design and construction is solid and and built to handle the rough water around Australia. Great center of gravity with fuel tanks centered. The inside steps to the bridge is nice in foul weather.

Not sure how many here realize this but Riviera started out by building boats based on the Hatteras 52C molds. They look identical to the pre '87 boats.
