In the event anybody is interested, my broker mentioned this morning that he just listed a 1979 58' YF. The boat owner is the former owner of Lamb's Yacht Center, a large boat yard in Jacksonville. I've seen it from the outside and heard it run. It may be worth a look with the cummins. I think he is very optimistic on the price.

This is just a FYI as I don't have a dog in the hunt.

Yep, VERY optimistic. How does this work?

Regular Cruise- 16 Knots/31 GPH/2100 RPM/60% Load

60% load?

I would assume that % load is directly proportional to the fuel burn rate, not rpm. The electronics calculate the %load on fuel burn usually....Pat

Nice setup. Yes, 325 seems a little rich.

What's with the little can/nun thingie on the fly bridge

Dyslexic captain?

I'd expect slightly better performance from those engines. Price is very optimistic but worth it for anyone who plans to do the same to a 58YF.

Why would that be dyslexia related?

The PO of my boat had the same thing on the bridge albeit red nuns and green cans. Just gives you a quick reminder of which way you're running and what goes where. You can turn it around to make it fit the current situation.

Thanks. That makes sense as I would have thought the term would relate to rated RPM.

% Load doesn't really care about RPM. It's based upon the calculated effort of the engine. Different conditions that load rating can be found at all sorts of RPM's.
