  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Ive been lurking here for a while, Trying to soak up as much information as I could, but didnt join the forum until just a few days ago when I sent off the check to buy a 1979, 43' Double Cabin.

So to introduce myself, I live in Cape Coral, Florida and own a little deck boat docked behind my house. My only other experience with a boat was looking at them from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, when I lived in Annapolis, Md. So what the heck am I doing buying a boat in California?? Well thats where my kids and grandkids are. And they have been pressing my wife and me to move. They convinced my wife, (easy sell), so we began shopping for a second home. Long story short; instead of a condo, I bought a boat instead. And I think I got lucky stumbling upon a Hatteras that will work for us as our California condo.

The former owner used it as his home too, and I dont think it left the dock in over 3 years, until last week when the surveyor took it out for a sea trial (ran great he said) I expect to re furnish the salon, and install new appliances in the galley and replace the blue countertop, but thats all for a while. The electronics are dated and need to be replaced before we go anywhere, but thats not going to happen until I learn to drive this thing. Whats important is that it floats, and looks greatand there is enough room for a couple of recliners and a TV

So heres hoping I dont become too much a pain in the backside, as I ask what will no doubt be a lot basic, if not stupid questions.

I cant post a link, but you can see pictures by googling: 1979 43' hatteras double cabin, San Diego

They made a lot of these; they were popular boats and a good seller for HY for a long time. It's possible that they are the most numerous on this forum, actually. We have a lot of members who own and love them. Have fun, they are a great boat.

incidentally, the generator set they installed on that boat, if they bought it new, would have been 18-20K, put in. So it sounds like you may have done nicely with it.

And you'll get used to the blue Formica. You'll find plenty of other things to do before you get to that.
