Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Hi all,

Installed a new Headhunter pump on my 43DC. It is mounted on an Amtrol WX-102-PS diaphram tank.

I had a GM and i think they are terrific people and great, long lasting products, but a new motor for the GM was almost as much as the whole Xcaliber pump.

This pump brings pumping into the 21st century with microprocessor controlled functions, cut in pressure, priming sequences etc. avoiding the need for a pressure switch. Power input is adjustable from 300 to 500 watts with associated changed pump curves.

More GPM's and pressure. Can't beat it so far!

not sure what's so great about having a computer instead of a pressure switch ?

one is complicated, one is simple.

If you should ever have difficulties with that pump...good luck getting any customer service from Headhunter. We had a pump just like that on a 65' SF go out in the warranty period, and they said it they wouldn't warranty it. We could have it rebuilt for $400, though! So, to Sears we went and bought a well pump for $150. 2 years later, and the Sears pump is running strong!

Or go to harbor freight and pick up a cheap one for $60. It may eventually leak, but hey it's only 60bux. Our would last forever if my old man would stop foresting to disconnect it and drain it in the winter lol he's cracked 3.

Well that is why i say "so far." Right now smooth as a kitten and you can't hear it run.

We like pressurized water under way whether we are running the genny or not, so 12 VDC important to us. Pretty much eliminates all of the well style pumps.

Chosing relay logic and non-microprocessor based equipment on the boat is honestly a notion that i would never of thought of. Where's my sextant??
:--)
