New Hatteras Classic Models!

I already consider my 21 year old Hatt to be worth more than a new boat. I know I wouldn't trade her for anything else out there of the same size. Every new boat that I have looked at doesn't have near the room of my 53. There may be a few that have comparable quality (Nordhavn, Grand Banks), but in a 50-55ft model, they don't have 3 staterooms and 3 heads with separate showers. I would need a 65-70ft boat if I were going to duplicate her with a new one.

Right on...now if only we could get the MARKET to recognize that; well, given the flat depreciation curve after a certain number of years, I guess it already has to some extent, at least.

unfortunately the market views the classics as "old hulls" and thereby devalues them regardless of the quality and exceptional life-expectancy.

i set out to accomplish precisely what you speak of by purchasing and renovating. the key is to buy at the right price. you don't want to overpay for the things you're throwing away...

and the process has been an incredible experience.
