  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' EXTENDED DECKHOUSE (1983 - 1988)
I just installed a new Fischer and Paykel Refrigerator and decided to trim it out with a wall on the inboard side. I've seen this on other 53's and liked the look. It gives more of a "built-in" look.

It still needs a few more coats of 704C but it should turn out pretty nice.

Mine is finished out that way as well. My only issue is I can’t get a refrigerator down the walkway even a 24 inch or is so tight I would rip up the walls.

Looks great Sky!

Lower it between the engine room and up the stairs. That's how Walstrom's does it on the 53's.

I have the same issue as seven. my stairwell is23 1/2”. I did find that the fisher without doors will fit down but it’s $3k. I plan on going with a much smaller 12cf at $500

That looks great!

As usual, great job. I have an older FP, which did fit down the stairway.
A while ago, I modified the counter, when the big blender thing came out to create a ton of usable space.

Here is the fridge before trimming out that "wall".

Can you post the model number for your new fridge.

I looked at the dimensions and like the rest it’s too tall and deep.

I had a carpenter make the cupboards above the fridge less high
They now let a standard height unit in but it does stick out three inches into the corridor area

Really? Is a 53MY that much different from a 53ED? The depth with doors off is just less than 24". And the height is a couple of inches less than my previous side-by-side.

I wouldn’t think so either Sky but…. My stairwell opening is a hair wider than 23 1/2” and my height where fridge goes is 66 1/2.

Sky, where did you get the 704c? Sam's has it but Alex & Ed both said they can no longer ship it. Alex gave me the Valspar number, but must be out of production, I can't seem to find it anywhere

That looks great!

What's 704C? Presumably it's a varnish, but I'm getting bupkiss from interweb search results.

Perhaps a Sams database of refrigerators that fit Hatteras boats might be something useful. The refrigerator models change often enough but I think this question comes up more often. The work looks nice, teak veneer okoume plywood? Not inexpensive but truly indispensable.

Dupont 704c has not been made for years. WalterP gave me a can that he had years ago. Then I got a can of what Sam's had made up but I had to have another member pick it up from Sams and ship it to me because they can't ship Hazmat.
