New Fresh Water Pump Wiring

I bought a new fresh water pump today. It is a demand type, so no more accumulator tank and no cycling after the water is shut off. Hopefully it will be much quiter.My question is the old pump had 3 wires running to it; red, yellow and green, the new pump has just red and black, can I wire the new pump with these wires or should re-wire back to the breaker? Thanks, Scott

You need a meter.

Is the pump 12 VDC???

You should be able to use the old wires, once you know what they are.

I have both 110V and 32V "on demand" fresh water pumps (Surflow Extreme variable speed) and it's still good to leave the accumulator captive air tank in place. It makes the pressure even more steady.

32V pump just takes hot and ground.

110V pump takes hot, neutral and ground.

Check your 3 wires with a meter and see what they are. Don't assume you know based on color.

It may not work as well as you expect without the accumulator. I did something similar and removed the accumulator. The result was such an annoying temp variation while taking a shower that it was unacceptable. I put the accumulator back in and the problem disappeared. It's possible that the problem was caused by some other issue in the system but I didn't investigate any further.
