There certainly is no shortage of smart new innovation ideas and it may not be simply following the pod lemmings (as cool as they are in certain applications.)

Here is something that Northern Lights is developing with BAE. This is a team that provides mission critical military and transportation systems so the engineering is all there.

What would be terrific is if Hatteras was in on the development stage and became the first adopter of this type of advancement. Sort of like the relationship they had with cruisaire when the concept of a climate controlled boat was new thinking. The two companies designed systems specifically to meet the design needs and as a result both companies dominated their respective markets for decades and everyone else followed.

MJM makes a nice half boat. The 40 footer is less than 12 foot wide and has about the same living space as a 34 hatt. It probably weighs less than the 34 too.

Jim that's a different type of boat and not in the same market. The epoxy laminate process is great but may not be as long lasting as you think. remember cored hulls have had more than a few problems over the years.

yes I think Hatteras needs to kick up the R&D but we may not know about what is really on their drawing board. I don't think they are that far behind.

As to lightening up the boat I just have one word to say. Striker.

If you've been on one in rough seas you will understand. Them beer cans just get tossed all over.

Oh, I had one of those, I know what you're talking about.
