I haul her out every winter about mid or end November, and she goes back in in late March or early April. It's safer in some ways- since the boat is at a friend's dock where I rent a slip from him, there would be no one to keep an eye on her if she were still in the water. And I have a winter cover for her (wooden frame and a canvas cover in three sections) which comes down below the waterline, so she's wrapped up very well for the bad weather (like we're having right now) The creek where she's kept in season is shallow and ices up fairly often, so I think she's safer on the hard. And it does make it easier to get the recommissioning done in the spring- I can take my time on it, as they just put her over when she's ready.

I think the fact that she's out of the water for three or four months has probably stretched the life of the bottom paint, too. I wouldn't be surprised. This year, they will paint the bottom, I'll have the wheels tuned, and I'll drop the strainers and make sure everything is clean in there, too. And I'm going to fit a new trim tab cylinder- I had a leaking hose and we fixed it temporarily last spring, because she was already in the water, but this year I'll fit a new one.

Are you at Bennett Brothers or Bearing Marine? We need a haul this winter for some flybridge deck core issues, and am still working through which yard. Will be back next week.

We use CuKote from Seahawk. I typically choose the highest metal content on ablative paint between Brunswick GA and probably Charleston. Lots of tide and growth int the water. Micron csc and 66 have been on other boats I've owned with great results. The running gear anti fouling never lasts near as long for me as the bottom because I don't run the boat as much as I would like. So the divers just scrape.

Advise where you are. Would love to meet you when I get back to the boat.

Cucote. Is just not able to. Keep up with the micron 66. Ive worked with most everything out there and micron 66 always lasts.

I used Micron CSC here in the Chesapeake and it was in good shape 4 yrs later. This time I put on Bluewater CopperShield 45, good results so far. Others have had great results with Bluewater. Just like Pate, I'm no speed demon.

I am in the upper Chesapeake. Like everyone else here, I have very little problem with fouling on the fiberglass surfaces. On the metal ones, I get barnacles, although the zinc spray helps. But I still get them. I don't think anyone has solved THAT problem yet.

I'm in the lower Chesapeake and we have huge barnacle problems on anything metal. I have a diver scrape them monthly in season.

I use Sea Hawk Qcote with biocide. 3 coats and 5 at the waterline. Last job lasted 4 years.
That's what we used in April of this year .We ruined a prop 5 months later and anything that was metal or plastic had some growth but the glass was clean.

PETTIT SR 60 multiseason.. has no brackish water issues like micron 66 and is way stronger than seahawk . if you take your boat into a tributary or ICW for a while the 66 will have performance issues.

Interesting, never heard that before but that's why you need the right paint for your area.
