  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
46' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1981 - 1984)
Hello All,

The stratas glass enclosure is being built for my 46c, along with seat cushions, salon window screens and all that crap. I need turn snaps, button snaps and those other thingamajigers lots of all of them... west marine seemed high so I did a bit of searching and these two places stuck out with sailrite looking ahead. A complete ss turn snap with screws and the gromet for the fabric is less than a buck (per 100)vs west marine's 2 for 10 buck rate. Anyone deal with these places in the past? I don't want to buy junk and I would like to save wherever I can to make me feel better about the big ticket items I purchase without a second thought.
Thanks,
George

I have used them both and they are good companies. In addition, try these folks:

For more stuff, in the menu on the left, click "Outdoor/Marine"

I buy from SailRite. The customer service there is excellent. Matt Grant, one of the owners, is my contact there. He is very quick to respond to questions, make recommendations if you need to know about what is a better fabric or product for your particular project and explain why, etc. Once once did they send me the wrong size zipper and when I brought it Matt's attention, he overnighted me the correct one and told me just to keep the other. They are good people to deal with.

I second Angela's recommendation. Here is the link:

Sailrite is just fine, they are an old company with a good reputation. You might also try Three Rivers Supply, I think they are called, they are in Pittsburgh and supply the wholesale canvas and awning trade. WM will always be the highest and their quality may not be the best. You are smart to look around.

I ditto the Sailrite recommendation, as we have purchased any number of products from then over the years, including the arm-busting (it's heavy) sewing machine (it can sew through anything and has held up well), a tool for installing snaps (beautiful for those who appreciate well made tools), plus many types of snaps and canvas.

We do all our own work (oops, Admiral does all the sewing!), so headaches and heartaches we don't need. I have visited their IN facility, in little Ceresco, IN, N. of Indy, and it is a neat, clean, orderly shop with very pleasant people. We actually sewed an entire canvas cover for the boat, installed when its up on the hard for the winter. P.s., the big cover canvas used was the marine grade vinyl canvas from Joann's Sewing, at a reasonable price! Has taken a beating and held up for 5 years now, in some heavy weather- bitter cold and wind.

No, I don't have a financial interest in them
