On a beautiful, breezy Sunday afternoon, my friend Susan (a/k/a Angela's boat model), invited Pascal and I to go sailing on a Catalina 25 sloop. We packed our picnic bag consisting of wine, chocolate cake and wine, and off we went to explore the bay waters near Indian Creek just off the 79th Street Causeway.
It didn't take long for Pascal to take the rudder as Susan and I sipped and chatted about the great weather. Suddenly! Lo and behold! We came to a sudden thudded halt! WE RAN AGROUND!!! Pascal started to curse in French while we laughed our butts off! Before I could check if the content of the wine was at the same level, Susan had jumped off the bow to push us off the sandbar. I looked back at Pascal, who was fuming after hearing that Susan knew of the sandbar and had run aground there before, and saw that he had no intention of going in the water to assist. So, off I went after Susan to help her push. We were soon turned 90 degrees and able to continue our pleasant sail, and Pascal never released the tiller after that. He is definitely a closet sailor! If I have my way, I'll have him off that Hatt and onto a big cat sailing the coastline of Cuba in no time!
