I believe that is classic pre-war Burger.

i have a friend with a boat that looks alot like that, his is a trumpy

You'd have more than one tear if you owned it. The upkeep on wooden boats makes what we spend look small. They are ferociously high-maintenance. Like many beautiful things.

That may be the case but I think it would only happen out of a labor of love…….and a big checkbook

Beautiful! My parents had a 63’ Trumpy. Very similar lines. My Dad always said, “6 hours of work for one hour of play.”Alnilam1979 43DC

I know a bit about the vessel. Here are some facts.

Year Built: 1940 by Burger Boat Company
Length: 75’
Beam: 15’6”
Draft: 4’5”
Air Draft: 15’ (will fit under a bridge)
Displacement: 60 Tons
Engines: 2 Cummins QSB-5 300hp 6 Cylinder Diesels
Speed:10 knots
Fuel: 800 gallons
Water: 275 gallon
Holding Tank: 225 gallons
Range: 900 miles
Hull material: Welded steel 1/4” plates on 18” centers-3/8” keel
Deck: Teak over fiberglass composite
House: Solid teak
Interior: Honduran mahogany
Accommodations: 4 guest cabins, 1 crew cabin, 3 heads, full galley, sleeps 7 plus crew.

Launched by The Burger Boat Company of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, she was the 2nd steel vessel
built by the firm. The original owners were the Shattuck family of Neenah, WI, founders of Kimberly Clark Corp. To lend Pilgrim to the WWII effort, the minimum length requirement was 72’. In 1941, Mr. Shattuck had the vessel extended 10’ by Burger so the boat could serve in the US Coast Guard.

She wears service stripes on the wheelhouse for her 5 years of anti-submarine patrol on the Atlantic East Coast. Her home was Lake Winnebago until 1989 when the Fox River Lock was sealed to block lampreys and she was moved to Sturgeon Bay. In 1990 she was sold to the Kohler family and in 2006 sold to the present owners, a private Michigan company.

Pilgrim had an extensive refit in 2007 when she had new engines and a generator installed and was totally upgraded to modern yacht standards. Pilgrim is stored for the winter in Grand Haven.

PILGRIM IS A PRIVATE VESSEL AND DOES NOT CHARTER OR GIVE BOAT TOURS

PLEASE DO NOT BOARD PILGRIM OR ANY VESSEL WITHOUT PERMISSION OF THE CAPTAIN

Dipper,
Tell us more about your knowledge of this vessel? What is your relationship to the current owners?

Turns out that if you're fabulously wealthy, you can fully refit and modernize an old boat in less than 13 years... lol
