Interesting......I wonder what the WOT fuel burn is  .

Thats not a RIB. The round gunnales are the fuel lines.

I think with 2000 horsepower you are well endowed!! ws

Sure would be funny to pull up to the beach /sandbar with that thing :D Erich any chance of a running picture that would be great...also whats it used for?

Hell, I hope you guys never get divorced. How the heck would you ever split that thing in half? Good thing it has an even number of engines!

A dinghy with 7 spare engines. You should post that picture on the www.passagemaker.com site and make the same statement I did as to one engine being less safe than two or more ie redundancy is best. Why do ya'll think I keep making the same arguments over and over?

I made what I thought to be a simple observation in that there could be no argument that twins have a distinct safety advantage over a single. Those boys 'bout had themselves a heart attack!

I hate to poke fun, but one guy made the comment that he thought it would be a good idea to use parts off the secondary engine to fix the primary engine that had developed a problem.

Uh.....Okay.

Here we are on the sea trial. Cruise at 70 kts burns about 20 gph. I use it to move "stuff" real fast from one place to another. ;)

Gee whiz you sound a lot like my wife!

What is that thing supposed to do? Other than go fast and cause people to say Holy *^$3?

I just have to ask a serious question, not to break new ground or anything, but why would anyone want a boat with 8 engines?

Seriously, can you imagine trying to synch those things, feed them, or keep them all running at the same time. All that aside, imagine trying to wrap your hand around throttles/shifts for 8 friggin' engines.

I don't get it, I really dont.

The first link will answer your question.

In short, they were built in the UK for drug runners. Other than military, why else would you need to go that fast without being seen by most radar's?

I'll look at the link, but why not go with half as many HP Merc's if speed is the need?

Think of how much additional drag eight gearcases would cause.

Hell, now I sound like somebody who missed the whole point of your thread as being a little joke. Here I have wasted all this time and effort to try to get you boys to lighten up, and look what you all have done to me?

Where is that dang Bayliner I've been threatening to put to my head? :D

Randy,

I actually found this on the boated.com forum. After you recommended it.

I thought I'd have a little fun with it. :D

Maybe you should stick to the "techy" side of the house... you were asking WAY too many serious questions. :D

Oh Bird, You know how to reduce drag on them cases. I wonder if they need low water pick-ups. That would be pretty slick to have billet cases and jackplates. I am surprised that it only goes 70mph

Them's fightin' words there Bubba!

70mph with all them Jap kickers? I GUARANTEE YOU I could get more speed out of that thing with a few old racer tricks and 3-4 big ole' black motors!

I can't get any more speed because I'm always loaded down with a about 4,400 kilos of... I mean a ton of... stuff. My return trip I can get her up close to 100. I usually only have five or six suit cases of cash and they don't weigh much.

Dear Capt. Eric,

I have been working undercover for the DEA posing as an uneducated Hatteras owner. This was an attempt, a quite successful one I might ad, to find those who are ruining our way of life in America.

Please be advised I will be personally boarding your boat and placing you under arrest for drug trafficking and racketeering under the RICO statutes. If you are unable to be present during this inspection, please place the suitcases full of cash underneath the couch in the salon of your Hatteras. We will then continue this conversation and subsequent inspection of your boat in Grand Cayman.

Your's Truly,

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Looky here... we can work this out. Lets mount some outriggers, a bait well, and fight'n chair in her and put her into charter.

On a serious note... I went to SC a few months ago to look at a 1964 41C. I thought it was strange that the cockpit sole seemed to be elevated. The owner informed me he bought the boat at a Federal Auction. It was a drug boat that had massive fuel tanks installed and the cockpit raise to accomodate them.
