After reading this thread I decided to contact Ocean Breeze about my 48 year old condenser and air handlers. I have heard back already with answers to my questions and a what I feel is a very satisfactory price for total replacement with digital controls. I was very impressed.

I have become friends with the three knob system. It's quirky, but it works. "If it ain't broke...."

When I bought the boat back in 2003, it had fairly recent Ocean Breeze condensers. They worked really good and seemed well built. I had to call them a couple of times over the years and got good phone support.

Another great AC manufacturer is Flagship. I installed two of their chillers and 5 air handlers about 3 years ago. Solid construction, all SS pans with good drainage unlike cruisair. They make splits and self contained as well.

Anything but cruisair. Getting parts is terrible. Right now I have a bad blower on a air handler on the 84 I run and it s back ordered till mid July. Boat is for sale... doesn’t look good when showing.

I had the original three knobs when I bought my 53... what a difference electronic controls make!!!

2 different pumps ran just fine without the unit running.
This confuses me also.
You did not answer Pascal;
Are they pumping when the compressors are running (or trying to run)?
Or just when the units are off?

If we could fine tune the responses, whole description of when the pump run and not runs,, I feel positive, there is an answer.
I have been here before..

Digital controls transform these units, including the dehumidify cycle. They are a great deal better than the three-knob system, no question about it.

My new Dometic system is crazy useful compared to the old. Just to have the fan work on automatic variable speed makes it so much better. The dehumidify setting is great.

I'm going out to Grainger to get a new thermostat for my two remaining old systems. One won't even shut-off at the right temp anymore. Wouldn't it be nice if just a new thermostat would control fan speed like a new unit? But no....

Clarifying. Pump connected direct to power, runs water without any problem. Unit connected/controlling pump, pump shuts down as soon as compressor kicks on but using voltmeter unit is getting proper power/relaying power until compressor kicks on then pump relay shuts off.
