  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' CONVERTIBLE (1965 - 1969)
Sorry to hear. Active captain has a danger marker about 3 miles west of the clewiston lock indicating rocky ledges along the edges of the canal and sudden shallow water. Right before a slight kink.

Here is exactly where it happened.

Well ain’t that a daisy? Thought navionics and active captain had the same charts. Navionics does not show that. Not that I would have looked. Was running a man made ditch that had no warning marker.

Active captain is only a data overlay on top of existing charts. It has to be activated in the various apps like navionics, garmin etc. While far from perfect it does help finding possible trouble spots.

Well, if you're stuck in the Ft Myers area for any length of time, reach out - I'm beached here myself, 919-889-2207. I can at least give you a ride to the marine store or grocery if you need it.

Ran aground on plane. Here is a link to what I posted on THT where I'm seeking some local knowledge. Anyone here have experience in the OWW? I can't figure out how I went wrong other than no good deed goes unpunished when I let the oncoming guy have the wrong side of the channel.

Oh man!... so sorry to hear! Sucks that this happened on the way to Bahamas!...

that absolutely sucks!!!

What is the best source for props on east coast Florida? Anyone know? I was going to go to four blades at some point so maybe I can expedite this by buying and jumping to head of the line on pitch and bore. I have a rental car and am staying in Port St Lucie so Jacksonville to Miami is fair game. They need to be able to calculate from my 3 blades to pitch to what the equivalent is for 4 blade. Help! Trying to save trip of a lifetime (for us anyway).

F&J are slow on repairs but should be able To calculate what you need and get them quickly. What about Sam’s Propeller Place, at the bottom of the page.

For repairs, Tri County Props here in Miami is really good and had quick turnaround. I ve used them a few times over the years including to make shafts during my repower and tweak my Nibrals

That is a bummer for sure.
Don’t forget about Treasure Coast Propellers right in Stuart. Good luck.

We are near Stuart. Are they a large outfit? Figure the only way to get a favor is they are large and can squeeze an extra job in.

Did you check with General Propellor in Bradenton? I know they are on the West coast but geographically it looks about the same distance as Miami. I know they have a calculator and quoted me some 4 blade wheels for 2.5 inch shaft. Here is an excerpt from the email

Hatteras 46
46000-48000 pounds full
1.50:1
Engine hp 450@2300 rpm
top Speed 24 knots (per weight and Hp)

Recommended propeller
Michigan DQX 26 x 24 81% DAR 4 blade Nibral
$3738.30 each

Yours will probably be different with the 892's

My impression is that you won’t need a favor. My boat stays at River Forest in Stuart and every time I am in there I see where Lake O has damaged some
Propellers. River Forest tells me they turn them around pretty fast. Explain the situation to them and offer to pay to expedite. Keep us posted. I think you
Got a fighting chance of saving your trip.

I have a pair of Teinbridge Tru Torque 5 blade 31x34 x2.5 inch, In DC logistics so logistics??............Pat

They are on the West Florida coast, not east, but General Propeller in Bradenton gave me excellent service on new wheels for my Hatteras- I'd recommend them highly.

We had a 43 Hatt with 3 blade that were replaced with 4 blade and have a spare set. Do you know what diam and pitch you need for replacements? I'll contact the current owner to confirm size. He's in Stuart.

Madhatter.....I PM'ed you on THT. May have a set of 4 blades for you to "save the day"....and trip! I believe you'll find the price VERY reasonable if they'll work. Check that PM.

Never mind. Just realized you have 2 1/2" shafts and we had 2" shafts so props no good. Sorry.
