Hi All,

I must confess, we do camp out, it's a place called "The Four Seasons" !

If i want privacy I anchor out in a quiet place.

If I want access to land a mooring is not an option.

At Key West:
Marina = $4 per ft.
Mooring = $20 per day!

I agree with many here that using the mooring is a matter of privacy not just a matter of cost savings. Back a few years ago I spend a lovely six weeks on a mooring in Bequia in the Grenadines. It was bloody marvelous to be able to sit in the cockpit in the morning dinking fresh brewed coffee watching the young French girls who were on boats from Martinique undertaking their morning aft deck cockpit shower after a au’natural swim. I bet Pascal never saw that in Newport!

The best part is you could almost never leave your boat. There was the floating bakery that came by the boat every day, the floating liquor store, floating water boat, the floating diesel and ice boat, floating meat and fresh fish boat, floating vegetable and fresh fruit boat, and the best was the floating laundry. I wonder if Sky could handle this in late January…. 84 degrees complete privacy, and a nice breeze. I bet that sure beats snowy Michigan!

Sounds great!

It's unusually warm here in Michigan. No snow yet with temps in the 40's. Some years we have snow by Halloween. Weird.
