No one ever offers more than the asking price. I figure I could go down a bit if I have to.

Yeah, but there's no need for a road map if you're in a whole nother country either! :D

I have one of the Captain's Models 46 series 2 convertibles. Nice, and pricey. Took 2 yrs to get it at least. Anythng good will be expensive. Note that they are made in USA.

It appears this thread may have been started by a younger person seeking our help. Please bear that in mind when you post replies, gentlemen.

Sorry Doc, I didn't consider we may have anybody under 21 on this site. If Adam is under 21 and owns a Hatt, I think I'll PM him and offer him a job. I am totally sincere in my interest in obtaining a model Hatt, or I wouldn't have responded to his thread.

That said, Adam, 15 will still get you 20, but unless your girlfriend is real smart, she's bound to be older than 15 as a senior.

Sorry Adam, just playing with you "son". :o

I had a etched glass model of my Bert. made that lights up. It was one of my extravagant moments. Hey maybe that would be a idea for the misses to get one of the Hatt made for under the Christmas tree.

That sounds cool! Where did you get that?

You think they would charge more for a Hatt etching?

There is a local guy here who made mine. He came over and sketched the boat, then etched the glass. He even has the anchor chain links in the etching.
There are always people at the shows who make them as well.

Okay, I'll look for somebody at FLIBS. Now, for the rude question, how much did that set you back?

In 1994 it was 600.00. The others wanted 1000.00+.

I had the good fortune of meeting Captain Adam R whe we had Unity in Ft. Pierce FL on our way to Miami. he was captianing a beautiful Hatteras 36' Express. This boat has the same hull as our convertable except it is an express on top. Adam is a really nice and personable young man and he really loves boats, especially a Hatteras. Thanks for joining our group of old fogeys, (and Randy), Adam. Welcome aboard.

I could also mount yer model on a nice piece of teak with the boat upside down with an oil slick around it :D
ROFLOL, that was a good one!

More on the model Hatteras: I was originally looking for a scale model of Blue Note, my 36C. Captain's Models had just done their first 46 Series 2, a boat called "Spring". I think mine, "Hatterascal", was the second or third. I sent them copies of the brochure photos from the first 46 Series 2, which must have been the company boat at the time, (hull #1), and they tried to make the model look like that. The cost difference between getting something they already made, and having them do a 36C from scratch, was huge. And even the 46 was expensive.

They were fairly successful, I think. (I will try to post a photo of the model). What I didn't like is that it took a LONG time to get it- way after the deadline-and it required a lot of pushing. Got me good and mad. While it's nice, as the old expression goes, if you could buy them at your price and sell them at theirs, you'd make out nicely.

The do have molds etc to build another 46 Series 2, I'm sure, and they have probably done others since mine. But I would keep looking, or not be in a hurry for the finished product if you trade with them.

Thanks for the comments Maynard.

I an 22, and have been on boats since i could walk, ( first stream crossing @ 8 months). Had my captains liscense for 2 years. My Father owns the boat I run, we have 2 Hats, one Post, and one Tiara, sooner or later they will be mine.

Here is the link to our company if anyone is ever in our neck of the woods.

PS: You should see the HATT now Maynard. Painted all the teak with Bristol (4 coats) and cleaned all the boatyard gunk... Its the talk of the dock now.
Oh Freebird, shes a Senior in College, 20, no jail for me

Does anyone know of a model or half-model of an early 80's, 56MY for sale? To have one custom built is around $1,500. Way out of my ballpark.
